The House of GaGa

Ok, so I’ve never really been that “hip.” My pals as far back as middle school (I’m in touch with only one friend who’s known me before the 6th grade and she can’t remember if I was or was not hip) can attest to the fact that I was basically marching to the beat of my own drummer. Usually that drummer worked for Gowan. Sometimes Def Leppard. Maybe Sting. But I never was not quite on it, in the know, down with the kids, etc. and blah, blah, blah.

So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that I have only just recently discovered Lady GaGa. Oh my GOD people. This is one amazing woman. I came across her in an interview on a cable TV station (can’t even remember the station) and was completely floored by how frank, honest and likeable she was. As a marketing professional, I’m impressed with her ability to carve out her own niche. Musically, this woman has pipes and talent.

I have to admit I saw a Rolling Stone cover and thought to myself that she looked trashy and flashy, probably to make up for no talent. I’m eating my words.

As MTV goes toward annoying reality TV and further and further from the amazingly cool videos of my teens, I’ve missed the great work that used to go into videos of old. Then I saw a few from Lady GaGa. Now I’m wishing I’d gone to see her in concert this past summer. What visually cool eye candy! I’m reminded of the great videos of past from Prince’s and Duran Duran. Check out this one, Bad Romance. I’m loving the music. And I have to admit, she’s one sexy lady.
