Shutterfly Review and Giveaway

I honestly love Shutterfly.

For the last three years I’ve used Shutterfly to make incredible photo books of the kids’ milestones both for myself and for family as gifts. I made my first one after a coworker showed me a book she’d made of her vacation. After seeing how gorgeous and professional it looked I figured I’d give it a try.

At Shutterfly you can upload unlimited photos in high resolution and they’re stored for life. You can then choose your photo book size and off you go. Hundreds of page backgrounds are at your disposal, as well as page layouts and fonts. You can personalize every aspect of every page (number of photos, photo placement, text, font and background). It will even tell you if it thinks you spelled something incorrectly (love that).

The little photo books I’ve made have been my family’s favorite Christmas gifts of all time, and quite honestly an excellent way to get all the family (7 people thanks to all the divorces) quality gifts for a total of $150 (tax and shipping included). In fact, those books are all still sitting on the grandparents’ coffee tables.

I’m afraid our family has now come to expect the books each year, which when I think about it, isn’t so bad. It forces me to pick out the best photos of the year and upload them, thus saving them forever. And the final product is high quality paper that will stand the test of time. Unlike a regular photo album where I’m terrible at remembering to put details with each photo, these books will always say who is who and will be a valuable resource to our descendants.

I’ve also used Shutterfly to make personalized calendars and personalized thank you cards.

The cards have been a real hit. I had a batch of flower themed cards made with my daughter’s name embossed on them. I also ordered another one with my son’s name in a blue theme with an airplane. I use these now as thank you cards for Christmas, birthday and “just because” gifts the kids receive.

These days it seems Christmas is coming even faster so Shutterfly has even come in handy for ordering absolutely gorgeous photo Christmas cards.

The best part is, it is really easy to save money with Shutterfly. I’m going to let you in on a little secret that has been extremely valuable. If you “like” Shutterfly on Facebook, every once in a while they’ll mention a special code just for their fans. The same goes with once you become a customer. I’m always getting e-mails for discounts and even free products. And get this, fans who can’t use their codes will actually post them for others to snag on the Shutterfly Facebook page! You just have to ask.

To show you just how freaking great this company is, I’ve welcomed them to partner with me for my first ever giveaway so you can try them out yourself. And here’s the super cool part. Three people will each win a discount code for Shutterfly.com worth 10 free flat personalized 5 x 7 Shutterfly stationery cards. Just get 10, or use them to reduce your price if you buy more.

Sound cool? It’s very simple to participate. If you want to be entered to win, please leave a comment for each of the following things you do, and please make sure you fill in your e-mail address in the comment form (only I can see it, so fear not). Giveaway closes Sept. 12, 2010, and I’ll announce winners Sept. 13.

Jen, love it! I’ve been using Shutterfly for years and have ordered photo books, cards, calendars and other great products. My daughter’s preschool even used Shutterfly to print their yearbooks. I agree, they do offer great deals and discounts, and I’m looking forward to following them on Facebook. Giveaway or not, I’m thrilled to be a member of your ground-crew!
